USGS has temporarily suspended small-scale web map services. As part of the shut down of the National Atlas in 2015 and current migration of National Map data and services to the cloud, previous small scale web map services needed to be shut down. We hope to have a new set of small-scale services back up by November 15, 2017.
Small-Scale Web Services
The National Map offers Web Map Services (WMS) that lets you connect to the small-scale data using your Web browser, geographic information system (GIS), or desktop mapping program to visualize and dynamically access and retrieve small-scale data.
You can connect to nationalmap.gov to display or use our data in your own maps and applications. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) provides open standards for a variety of web services.
The new web services are now available through the ESRI REST services API and in the following open formats listed in the table below.
